Sales Intern Job Description – The sales interns are an integral part of the sales team. As they gain experience, they may perform administrative and entry-level duties for the Manager and other senior staff.

In addition to conducting research, making phone calls, sending emails, and updating records, sales interns also attend meetings and maintain client relationships. The sales interns will analyze the sales process and understand how the sales market works and what they are most interested in.

The position of a Sales Intern is one of assistance. It is their responsibility to provide support to each sales team member to improve results. Thus, a significant portion of their job entails making reports, searching for consumer information, presenting data, and seeking out new business opportunities for the sales team.

It is expected that a Sales Intern will perform both sales and administrative duties. Therefore, they could ensure that sales performances are analyzed, understandable reports are created, and necessary information is provided to the appropriate persons in the proper time.

Duties & Responsibilities of Sales Intern

  • A Sales Intern is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintaining close contact with the Manager or assigned staff member and completing all assigned tasks.
  • Completing desktop research or gathering information by surveying clients or talking with staff.
  • Assessing sales results against targets.
  • Observing and following the sales process.
  • Identifying and proposing improvements to the sales process.
  • Supporting managers during negotiations.
  • Planning and attending meetings, workshops, events, and exhibiting.
  • Providing support to the company’s managers by interacting with clients, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Maintaining documents and sales records.
  • Preparing presentations for staff and other stakeholders and keeping a log of everything learned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Knowledge for Sales Intern

  • Completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • Knowledge of current sales techniques and an interest in working in sales.
  • It is preferred that you have experience as a campus leader.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers is essential. Explanations of complex topics are clear and concise in terms that anyone can understand.
  • An understanding of everything commercial, the world of business, and familiarity with the major happenings in the business world today.
  • Excellent writing skills. The writing is usually straightforward and understandable.
  • Good at motivating the sales team when necessary.
  • Proactively seeks feedback from others, including constructive criticism.
